Barkworth’s is a long established business, well-known for its exciting selection of fresh and frozen fish.  To compliment the fish, fresh herbs and selected fruit and vegetables can be bought at the stall.  The fish comes from high quality inshore day boats, specialising in Cornish and Scottish fish, which means that the fish is far fresher than any supermarkets. 

Since its launch back in February 09, Ian Cornall’s seafood bar in the Market Hall has gone from strength to strength.  Called “Saint Pierre” (the name for John Dory in France), customers say it has a European feel.

“We wanted to give shoppers a chance to share our appreciation for fish, seafood and cookery and the seafood bar provided the perfect opportunity to do just this,” explained Ian.

“People are becoming more adventurous with their food, visitors can sit and enjoy Maldon oysters, a crab sandwich or a seafood gondola – complimented by selection of appropriate wines.”

Telephone orders are accepted and delivery is free within a certain radius.  A vacuum packing service is also available at the stall.  Due to Ian and his staff’s expertise and knowledge a full preparation to a customer’s specification on all fish products can be provided, if required. 

Barkworth’s supplies a number of well-known outlets, including Radbrook Catering College,  Battlefield 1403 Farm Shop and Café, Queens Bistro Ludlow, Brompton Cookery School and a number of the county’s outside caterers.

Corbetts sell every type of meat and game imaginable!  Their chicken comes from Whitchurch so has only travelled 16 miles and it’s all filleted and jointed on the premises. Telephone orders are welcome at any time of day with same day delivery.  The daily delivery service is offered free of charge.

Corbetts supply between 30 and 40 of the best restaurants in Shropshire.

Jon Sykes has traded in the Market Hall for 29 years, 10 of those as Corbetts.

John Bliss Ltd sells fresh beef, lamb, pork, veal and chicken, together with a wide selection of cooked meats, home-made burgers, kebabs, marinaded meat, pickled tongue plus seven varieties of bacon, gammon, ham shanks, tripe, pork pies, pasties, plus black pudding and Bury pudding…the list goes on and on!  The pork pies are by Russells Pies (previoously of Brosely but now in a new purpose-built bakery in Halesfield). Other pies include pasties, steak, steak & ale, steak & onion, chicken, chicken & mushroom and a variety of quiche:- cheese & oonion, stilton & broccoli, cheese, ham & tomato.  All are delicious with a real home-made flavour.

Telephone orders are welcome, along with any specialist orders for barbecues or parties.  John is happy to give advice and will make any variety of burgers, sausages, koftahs, marinated chicken, pork, beef, lamb, etc.  Sausages regularly on offer include “Old English”, “Lincolnshire”, “Pork with cracked black pepper”, “Chorizo”, "pork with wild mushroom" and "merguese" (pork with Moroccan spices).  We even make our own pickled shallots.

John Bliss Ltd offer free local deliveries every Friday.  Please note there is no minimum spend limit.

Well established, family run business since 1967.  John and his staff provide great customer service which makes for a vibrant customer/staff atmosphere.  He sells locally produced meat, including accredited Welsh lamb and Shropshire beef. Humanely produced veal and all his beef is traceable to point of origin.  He cooks his own ham, shoulder bacon, roast pork, roast beef, roast brisket, tongue, brawn and turkey.

Our reputation for home-cooked meats is well known around Shrewsbury.

John Bliss Ltd has traded in the current market since it opened in 1965.  John’s father-in-law also stood in the old Victorian market.

John and his staff feel that they provide something special, something supermarkets can’t provide – knowledge, personal service and genuine quality the like of which you have never tasted before!

W D Butchers sells traditional carcass beef, hung and matured for 21-28 days, along with Welsh lamb,  free-range pork and traditional Herefordshire beef.  Also available is a variety of home-made sausages,  home-cured and dry-cured smoked and unsmoked bacon.  William can also sell Scotch beef if required.

Free delivery on all orders over £20 in the local area.  Advance telephone orders with meat ready for collection.

W D Butchers supplies a number of pubs and restaurants in the Shrewsbury town centre, as well as a number in the Telford and Ironbridge area.

All of William’s products have full traceability and he prides himself on being a traditional family butchers, providing excellent quality and a high standard of service to all his customers.  W D Butchers believe they are one of the few truly traditional butchers left trading in Shrewsbury – as all the beef is hung for 21-28 days and is rotated around the fridge accordingly.

W D Butchers has been in business for eighteen years, the last six years of which he’s spent in the Market Hall.
